Ryzen 1700 Asrock AB350m RAM help

Help with finding RAM for a Ryzen 1700 build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700

Mobo: ASrock AB350m Pro 4

GPU: EVGA GTX 1050

This build is a workstation, mainly for audio production, with some video and image editing. Light gaming.

I keep finding G.Skill Flare X as the best 16gb 3200 ddr4 kit that will work at 3200 out of the box. Will it even work at 3200 with my board, or is it okay to look at other compatible brands in the 2400-2666+ range 16-32gb to work with my board and ryzen 1700?

Is it a huge jump in productivity from 2x8 16gb 3200 ddr4 flare x to 32gb 2400+ corsair for audio production? I saw 32gb ripjaws for $230, but not sure at all if I should stick to the 16gb flare x...

Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Probably need to do a BIOS update on the board. Early boards and BIOS revisions were horrible for RAM compatibility and speeds. Go update your BIOS and try again and see if that improves the ram speeds.

You are not guaranteed to get 3200MHz stable on any system. If you are unlucky the CPU's memory controller may not overclock well and limit you to a slower speed (2666-2933), wasting the benefits of the additional RAM cost.

I recommend looking for a cost effective 2x8GB kit of 2666MHz memory that is on your motherboards QVL. Anything faster will cost a premium and have diminishing returns even if the overclock is successful. Larger memory configurations can also limit overclocks.

Thanks! So I'm wondering it is not true that Flare X gives you 3200 with Ryzen right out of the box? Or just because the AB350m will downgrade under 3000?

Asrock has pretty decent Ram support, i myself have a 1600 on a x370 taichi, i am using a 3200mhz 2x8gb C16 trident z rgb kit and after i got the latest bios update with agesa 1.0.0.6 they just ran with their xmp profile without any issues @ 3200mhz. Keep in mind like people say, any memory speeds over the jedec standards for DDR4 is considered overclocking your memory. Flare X is a rather expensive kit, which imho is a rather bland money grab because of the memory speed issues at launch (they don't ask a premium for Intel compatibility which is sadly still the platform ram is developed for). Also keep in mind that most 2x16 gb kits consist of dual rank memory which will lower the max speeds you can reach with them.
