My very first build help

bigwilyd

1. Budget & Location

$1,250-$1,350 USD

2. Aim

Streaming and playing games such as WItcher 3, Overwatch, GTA 5 and PUBG all at max settings. This will also be the machine where I will do homework and browse sites like Reddit (have 15 tabs open).

3. Monitors

I plan on running dual monitors at 1080p.

4. Peripherals

All I will need is Windows 10 64bit. Other peripherals I own or will own down the line.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I always wanted to make my own PC. I have an Asus Laptop right now and I'm tired of playing games on low settings, as well as streaming and having another monitor next to my laptop screen can be annoying.

NOTES: I do not want to upgrade my GPU anytime soon, So I really prefer a GTX 1080. Fitting a 1080 in this budget, Id assume that the CPU would have to be something like a Ryzen 1700x? I prefer to have a water cooler like a h100i. I also prefer to have a white color scheme, as black and red is overused IMO. RGB components are nice to have, but definitely not necessary. Sorry for being picky, and I appreciate all the help in advance! thanks

1700 is a better deal than a 1700x

And you can get a windows key at kinguin for 30 bucks and when over budget a little for white theme and for the 1080

I really like this build! and is the only difference between 1700 and 1700x the overclocking capabilities? lastly, I may just change a few things that don't necessarily need to be white in order to stay in budget. I will gladly look at any other builds that people put together here!

None of the ryzen 7 chip can overclock past 4ghz unless you hit the silicon lottery so it doesn't matter people even buy 1700 and overclock them to 1800x performance

I have another question. Would it be worth spending 40$ more for a 7700k?

I've asked that question on the forums already and everyone says go with ryzen and imo you should go for ryzen

I've tweaked your part list a little to my liking. I believe this is my complete build unless you find problems with it. Put windows in because I do not trust kinguin, sorry. Also, bought an extra fan for the back of the case, as the case comes with two white LED fans for the front.  Lastly, I will buy the water cooler down the line.

You could save money on the cooler by getting a Cryorig H7.

No need for a 750W psu. A 550W is enough.

Cheaper SSD

Yes, that cooler!

This is exactly what I have in my Ryzen 7 1700x computer build and it does the job very well in terms of keeping the CPU nice and cool.

Besides that... the Ryzen 7 1700 uses 65 watts, which runs cooler than the Ryzen 7 1700x (it's a 95-watt processor) does.

So, if the Noctua NH-L9x65 can keep the Ryzen 7 1700x nice and cool, then it will do the job just fine on Ryzen 7 1700.

F.Y.I., yes... I'm talking running the computer at full load for at least 2 hours, too.

There is no reason to go with a low profile cooler in a mid tower case. The Cryorig H7 will perform better for less money.

So? The size or configuration of the computer case is irrelevant, what is more important is if the CPU cooler can keep the CPU cool within specifications.

Liquid based CPU coolers are fine, but for this build, it's not needed.

So why would you put a worse performing cooler in there that costs more money ? That makes zero sense. There is a time and a place for low profile coolers. This isn't one of them.

Also stock and overclocked temps (Under load) are going to be a lot worse than a good tower cooler such as the Cryorig H7.

Update: I bought a founders edition 1080 today as it was only $5 more than the cheapest 1080 I could find. I also heave my heart set on this case: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=141152&usaffiliateid=1000031504

I really like this motherboard and its price, plus it supports 3200 ram: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813144025

so ram to go with that mb has to be: http://www.outletpc.com/wu0711-corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2-x-8gb-288pin-ddr4-sd.html?utm_source=wu0711-corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2-x-8gb-288pin-ddr4-sd&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=Corsair%2B-%2BMemory (RAM) > Desktop - DDR4 Memory    BECAUSE its white, cheap, and 3200.

This is near to my final part list, so any criticisms would be helpful before I finish purchasing everything

The stock cooler would come with the CPU and you don't even need to pay for it, and will perform pretty much as well as the noctua. There's no point in getting it.
