We can't help with emulators as it's against CS.

Best option is to pick up a PS2. They're pretty cheap. It'll save you from having to go to fishy pirating sites to get a BIOS as well.

as far as i know, using a PS2 emulator is only legal IF you own a real PS2 to begin with. and the games of course.

not sure if you are also expected to pull the bios from your own console.

Yeah. If you have an actual PS2, then you can pull the BIOS from it or try and find one to download. But then you have one anyways, and it's not like the emulator lets you run it at a higher res or something, so it's really just for tinkering.

it actually IS

i can 2x, 3x, 4x the rendering resolution in PCSX2 and other emulators for PS1 and gamecube and so on.

but it really is only upping the resolution - it helps with the jagged polygon edges but it doesn't help with the crappy low res textures and can sometimes cause artifacts

i have to agree that it is only for tinkerers though ... there is no such thing as "the one set-and-forget emulator configuration to play them all" ... a setting that makes one game work better (or work at all) can totaly make another game work shittier (or not work at all)

I would think that the PC port of NFS:U2 would probably be superior to any emulation. >_>

Ya know, assuming the game runs on Win7 or higher.  It could be one of those game that broke after some version of Windows and no one patched it.

deffinately superior.

if you can get the PC version (and get it to run on modern systems) then that is the way i recommend to go

Getting it working is the big fat asterix of course.  It's really sad how some older PC games are up on Steam, GoG or elsewhere and patched to run on a current PC where as others are abandoned and had their compatibility die with Windows ME or Windows XP. :/

Ooooooooo. Nice. Except like you said, it doesn't upgrade the textures, so it's probs not any clearer.

PCSX2 really needs to allow the user to save presets, that way I'm not digging through options whenever I want to change up the games.

Games running on DirectDraw is a particular thorn in my side.

it's pretty much the same problem that most "HD" rereleases today have.

sometimes you can see that they REALLY rolled up their sleves, dug out their old source material or even create new textures/backgrounds and put effort in it to make it look as good as possible on the current hardware (resident evil remake and zero is a good example)

but most of the times they simply took the game as it was released on previous gen hardware (say, PS2) bumped up the rendering resolution, slapped the "HD" sticker on it and rereleased it for xbox 360/one or PS3/4 and steam complete with blurry FMVs / backgrounds and everything

I actually made a thread about this, and it's not. The only thing against CS is talk of obtaining IP, and pirating. Emulation is not against the rules, or else talking about VMs and WINE would be against the CS as well.

The mods should have added that to the CS. Good to know.

They kept it general; like "no piracy." It covers stealing of ROMs you don't own.

HI, this is an old post I hope I will get an answer from someone. I download Tekken 4 and I install the PS2 Emulator named PCSX2 but I can't found the sound. When I start the game it has the sound but after starting the battle there is no sound, why is that. I download the game and the emulators from the same website.
