Etherium mining is dead

Recommended Posts

Segwit is a coming.

Basically there is a disagreement of sorts between the people who run the mining pools and the bitcoin core community that could lead to a split.

1st August is judgment day which decides if the spits a happening.

And as all cryptos are linked to Bitcoin for now when their is uncertainty with BTC the rest go to hell too.

A tad bit sensationalist, are you? Even considering the recent difficulty increase and the price drops, my 60mhs setup still nets me >5$ per day...

Not the 10$ it was at one point, but far from unprofitable.

it's dropping. it was $400 not too long ago and people are getting out of it before it drops further

It was less than 100$ for a long time, sometimes less than 50$.

Crypto went crazy high these last few months. It isn't dying. It was just overvalued and is now reaching it's actually valued price.

I don't think 980 Ti prices really changed much. They did sell out kind of from people buying them all (Due to the 1070s costing too much).

Depending on how much of a overclock your 980 Ti gets, you might actually see reduced performance (Very little though...they're neck and neck for gaming...but in rendering, the 980 Ti wins hands down) if you get a 1070. I had two 1070s, OC'd to 2.1 GHz, and they both lose to my 980 Ti (1.5 GHz). The 980 Ti runs hotter though.

I'm just happy I managed to sell off my 1070s for $475 on ebay.

I don't think this is the end of mining though...I have a feeling it's going to go back up. Or at least it'll be around for 2-3 months still.

AFAIK 980Ti price didn't change at all here in Poland, I sold my Radeon R9 Fury and bought a top-notch model of a 980Ti without adding a dollar from my pocket :P

This is a plus when buying used cards too, that they weren't used for mining because it's not worth it to mine on 980Tis compared to current-gen cards

It is indeed faster than a 1070 when both are OC'd but it'[s also a nice space heater :P Even the R9 Fury Nitro I previously had wasn't as big of a heater as this one is.

In romania bought it used from a guy from an website called olx, took me a month+ to find one that would sell under 170$, but since rx 580 at 200$ would never happen, 970 it was, now they all increased in price its 200$ because of mining.

A month ago I was planning to build myself a mining rig, glad I didn't start

Looking at the constantly dropping ETH price I would be a moron to start at that point.

That's pretty neat the 980 Tis didn't jump there. They shot up like crazy here in the US. They used to be like $300-350 before the craze...and they're like $400+ now.

Yeah, I agree. My 980 Ti runs hot. I actually had to decide on two rendering cards for my Vray server, and I went with two 1070s (Though I sold them) because of how much cooler they run, even OC'd. I just hope the 1080s I'm getting don't run too hot though.

The Fury / Fury X cards are killer deals too. I've seen some go on sale for really cheap.

Can somebody tell or recommend me a guide on how to buy ethereum the easiest way? Which exchange do you recommend? I think it's time to buy now, the price will eventually go up again.

Well, I sold my GTX 1070 when the prices were high, I'll either wait for something good that is used to become available to replace my RX 460 4GB, or I might just wait for next gen nVidia cards.

Yup, pretty much. Just look at the 3m graph, its obvious when the news started talking about ethereum everyone went out and bought some and drove the prices skyhigh. Now the buzz is over and it is settling down to normal again and all the smart miners are going to be rejoicing as people sell their GPUs like crazy on ebay. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble but mining is far from dead
