RED Hydrogen - $1500 Android Smartphone

On 7/6/2017 at 1:33 PM, The Benjamins said:

When you see a 8" video cable is $280, a $1500 phone doesn't sound so bad.

It's still bad, just not comparatively, but then you learn that the company is likely just ripping people off with at least some of their products.

So you're saying I could either buy red's cheapest camera screen, or I could buy an entire smartphone and save $300.

well If you are buying a RED camera $300 is not that big of a difference, but ya.

This is going to have a "hologrphic" screen so it would be a nice 3D viewing screen while shooting. but I would expect the purpose built screens to be better and get the same tech.

If RED knock out the camera and screen on this phone it really can be seen as worth the cost.

  • 3 weeks later...

Considering that red have been known for producing high quality cameras, maybey they are embedding a high quality camera into their smartphone and caring less about the specs and quality of the phone.

Hmmm. Pretty cool, but I don't like the ridges on the side. It's just something to attract and retain dirt.
