Please Help Me Out... Z270 or Ryzen or X299

Looking a for a build to replace my old setup that I will be giving away to a friend. My budget is $2000, no more then $2200 and I like to game and edit/render videos heavy. I would not stream but will definitely capture/record game-play and stuff.

Only question is should go with this build I made: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/iamglueazy/saved/DR3Mpg or go for a Ryzen build or go X299 build (CPU will have to be 7800X) I don't want to wait for VEGA, really don't care because I want to buy my parts asap. I am open for suggestions and etc... Thanks

7700k for high refresh rate gaming (120Hz+).

Otherwise Ryzen.

Screw X299.

buy ryzen plus a board that supports fine bclk ajustments, you can get a full 8 core beast for as little as 300 bucks which is only 10-20% slower than a 4.5 ghz x299 cpu,

with the saved money buy a better gpu, or something else like a ssd for storage of projects or a better monitor

I would like to game at 144hz at least... Ryzen could handle 144hz right? If so how much comparing to 7700k. I will mostly get the 1700x if I go Ryzen.

I would go ryzen, you get more "Bang for the buck" as linus would say.  If you don't mind waiting a bit though for GPU prices to become more reasonable I would wait.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

What's a good mobo for BCLK overclocking?

Yeah i know about the whole GPU price.... Might as well wait. Whats a good 1700x and mobo combo?

You might not be able to find a bundle

why not a 1700x? Or it dosn't matter if i go "X" or not lol. What mobo should I buy? and could I just grabbed the rest of the parts from this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/iamglueazy/saved/DR3Mpg ? Like Drives and Ram and PSU?

The motherboard you want depends on the features that you need. Like wifi, how many USBs, overclocking  etc. For PSU get one from a reputable brand that has the wattage you need. And ram is just the quantity you want at the price you want.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Fbp7bj I put this link on the forum a few days ago and it appeared to be ok.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

the only difference between the two if you overclock is that 1700x might maybe have better voltages for the same frequency but the difference is small, i think there was a 15% better change of reaching 4ghz on the x version also

For editing I'd probably go Ryzen unless you don't mind spending a little more and getting Intel. Something to keep in mind is most people on here look for the best cost to performance ratio. If you don't mind spending more money for a little more performance, Intel is likely the better one to go with.

Also, as for you build, buy a 32GB kit. They're matched sticks.

I did? I thought I only said I will not wait for VEGA and I will probably wait for a better GPU (as in green side) due to the out of stock alerts...

Considering Vega comes out in 3 weeks you'll be waiting longer than it's release...
