just a note ahead of time: no one is gonna die if you dont have stabile internet, this isnt urgent. (actually one of the ways we decide urgency of tickets at work..)

few more things that would come in handy to know:

- where did you move from (general area/town/city is enough)

- where did you move to (same as before)

- which ISP did you come from, and which did you move to?

(seeing from your speedtests you're danish, i'm hoping some danes can chime in on the ISP side of things)

Yeah that's true. The spikes are just causing a huge headache when attempting to play any sort of game or communicating with other people through Skype.

Might be a problem with the modem/router combo. Any chance they can send someone out to look at it or send you a new one? Other option might be to buy your own router and see if they'll send you just a modem without the router portion.

That is what I am thinking as well. I am considering to purchase the D-Link DIR-842 Wireless Router, as I have heard it's a good router. I will try this as a last resort.

Call Stofa. Its their combo unit and they Will offer support for it. Do you have otter devices you test to see if the problems persist?

Last time I called Stofa, they were not to much help and I was hung up on. I'll definitely try calling them tomorrow though!

What sort of devices are you thinking?

I am experiencing the same issue on all devices connected to the internet.

Definitely sounds like a bad router portion of the unit.

Hopefully you can get them to not hang up on you when you call and see if they'll send another unit out.

They are blaming it on the fact that I live in an apartment and there are signals everywhere even though I mentioned that I am using 5Ghz.

I'll give them a call tomorrow then :) Thanks for your help. I will keep you all updated.

D-link is an exceptional amount of terrible, for an exceptionally low price.

Yes I did, but they kept on insisting that it is the signals.

At that point it sounds like a PEBKAC issue on the side of customer support, lol.

Ever since I moved into my new apartment and changed ISP, I have been experiencing lag spikes that last about 1-2 seconds.

My ping spikes to upwards of 2000 ms and goes back to the regular ping after the 1-2 seconds. I am running on 5Ghz WiFi with a NetGear A6210 USB WiFi Adapter. I have tried cable and I don't notice much difference, if any at all. My computer is 2.5-3m and a wall away from the router.

I am using the Icotera IGW3000 modem with a built in router.

Ping Results: https://pastebin.com/CwmS3u8e

Speedtests:

http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6428404214

http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6428407272

My Speed Tests vary a lot, which is why I have included 2 different links.

I do not have this problem when using my mobile 4G connection on the computer. I tried calling the ISP, but they are not of much help.

What kind of internet do you have? Cable, DSL, FIBER, 4G LTE, ect.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

if you have the issue on wired connections too then it's probably the modem/router combo. another thing to try is to put it in bridge mode & connect a device wired to see if it experiences the issue. other than that it would likely be an ISP issue, either with the lines to your apartment or in your apartment. You need to keep on them about it, i know it's frustrating but they will always brush you off if you let them. ISPs are pretty bad for that.
