I was really more interested in the mat he had down throughout the video, does anyone have a link for it?

 

I mean rgb is cool and all, but i'm not into the flash lights aesthetic, I'd be just as happy building in a cardboard box boring case as long as the actual performance is good.

I guess you were right. But that doesn't explain why would anyone choose i5 7600K above Ryzen 51600 or Ryzen 7 1700. Asus release the similar board named Crosshair VI Hero which has the same RGB feature.

 

Its not that I'm an AMD fanboy or anything. But for anyone with budget in mind, for anyone who wants the best performance for their money, choosing i5 for $2500 PC makes no sense. There are some people who will use the video to build their own PC, and now i can't help but feel sorry thinking that they use 4C/4T CPU when they can have 6C/12T or 8C/16T for around the same price.

Shooting all of our videos on a greenscreen would look horrifically bad. Just check out some of the "kitchen set" content from just after we moved to the new office (I think ~August 2015 but I can't say for sure) - and in those videos we weren't even trying to have much movement or product in the shot.

 

We can "not have access" by not having physical access to the building.

Greenscreen wouldn't work, too many green components. Would be a right PITA.

 

Grab a still frame and print it out as a 2D backdrop is what should be done. In fact it's what I assumed was done.

They went with Corsair because they were either sponsored (not likely as they'd disclose it in video) or just because Corsair has the most complete RGB ecosystem. NZXT has some RGB synchronisation too through HUE+, but then they don't have complete set of RGB accessories.

No!!! And I seriously searched the site through and through. It was probably some April Fool's joke page. Pitty, as RGB HDDs would actually be fun - back in the days people put UV cathode tubes (remember those?) for those white stickers to stand out, or even paint HDDs with UV-reactive colors.

There will definitely be some stinkers from time to time, but I think that (in general) we're delivering a pretty darn high standard of content these days. Let's hope we can keep up the pace :D

It's just hard for me because it was so obvious when you guys just stopped using the Ryzen test bench completely in pretty much any video that requires performance reviews. Also Linus has to force in the words "Intel Optane" whenever he possibly can. (see the supercomputer unboxing vid)

 

Aside from that, I really enjoyed the RGB build. Think it looks awesome.

I literally just watched the video because I miss seeing Linus actually do build guides, just like the phase cool build and stuff. These are what appeal to me the most. And although I don't agree with the i5 chosen as the CPU, you can't disagree that the most satisfying thing is hearing and seeing the CPU pin cover snap off as you secure your CPU using the retention clips.

 

This build was meant to be RGB after all, and it delivered. If I didn't do my build so soon, I would have just followed this entire parts list - minus the CPU, and call it a day. It looks so cool, and I'm already watching it again as we speak, lol.
