Should I enable game mode?

user experience actually points to less performance with it enables. No idea how many of those reports are true since i've never explored it personally

aen't those two tied to game mode? i remember being prompted that dvr or game mode wouldn't work when disabling the game bar

No. You can use them to enable/disable game mode from within the game but just doing it globally suffice.
