gtx 980ti (crashing) revisited

BigGrease

so i have installed my 980ti into another computer and found no issues (whew)

so this brings me back to my machine.

ive found that the ti installed in my machine running furrmark 8x msaa was getting 30 fps or so. in win 10 machine was 97fps.

wondering if the problem lies with the cpu.but tested prime95 stock clocks no issues.

so maybe the pci lanes in the MOBO or just the mobo itself.

i know its not the psu as it was in the win 10 machine working fine.

its not drivers as have reinstalled 3 different version with DDU

also furmark on win 10. fans barely spinning was 77 deg

my machine same test was 100% fans 84 deg and crash and less fps

also when the test was started it was already slow(no fps drop as heat rise, no underclocking)

also the windows 10 machine is an intel and mine AMD

ill have to test my ram. put my old 8gb kit in see if that helps. had changed to 64gb kingston.

so conclusion possible problems:

win 8 OS

Mobo (biostar ta970 non v5.3) red board not yellow.

Ram

Cpu ( cant see it as its fine P95)

or HD/SSD (i cant see it as the games it was crashing were on two diff HD/SSD's

i also noticed in win 10 machine the (whole gpu got nice and warm backplate and all at 77 deg )

but in win 8 machine gpu would reach 84 degrees for a certain amount of time but the card was cold. only warm on the spot where the die is. like the cards not being utilized??( i thought that was interesting)
