DOOM not playing at 1440p?!

hi soo im just trying to start doom for the first time, im playing on a 1440p monitor 16.9, when i start doom my resolution changes to 1080p

 

when i try changing my settings back to 1440p it just doesnt work and will stay at 1080 until i close doom

any fix i can try?

i7 7700k gtx 1080 ftw asus strix z270e 16 gb ddr4 and dell s2716dg monitor yeah everything is up to date and every other game runs greatr

reinstalled doom and its still changing my resolution and refresh rate to 59 hz
