lexar Lexar is no more :( Micron is Discontinuing Lexar Removable Storage Retail Business.

Lexar is closing shop. Micron, its parent company, has decided to end Lexar products after 20 years in selling all sort of memory cards and flash drives. Micron said that they are looking into selling Lexar brand.

While I never liked the brand my self it's really to bad to see the competition go. Hope somebody takes over and keep it going rather than bury it.

I had two of their flash drives die on me within 2 weeks of each other 3 months after I bought them. I can see why they are going out.

I have so many Lexar USB drives lying around, all still going strong.

It's pretty sad. I remember owning a Lexar 16GB thumbdrive. Had so many video projects from grade 11 on them. Left it plugged into a Mac desktop for 24 hours, came back to find it completely unresponsive and extremely hot. Looks like heat got the better part of it.

 

On a better note: Someone needs to make a device that can mount the device drive storage VIA solder or a socket like interface so we can retrieve data from it.

I actually really liked Lexar USB drives. I have a few on my desk right now. I guess they weren't premium quality, but they were affordable. Oh well...

The only thing I remember buying from them was way back in around 2002. It was a lexar memory stick pro duo 256mb from Tiger Direct lol.

I've bought several Lexar flash drives and never had an issue.  

Hell, I'd get them for cheap too.

SanDisk is cheap here in Canada. I saw a 128GB stick for $40CAD (30 USD)

Well damn. That's waaay cheaper than here. (Maybe I'm thinking of 256GB lol)

ADATA is cheap. Silicon Power is more expensive, but not by much. If I ever need a cheap drive, I guess ADATA will now be on the list.

The Microcenter version is 33.99 right now. That's way cheaper than I expected.

You might be thinking of Lexmark?

My workplace uses Lexmark printers and they seem fine other than being kinda pokey but my Canon printer has been kinda slow recently.

I suppose 80+ mbps is 'pro' now with SD cards

Just offloaded a fair few Lexar CFast cards for a few thousand dollars. They were always reliable.

That's unfortunate. I have a whole bunch of their drives laying around that I use regularly. I like them actually. I've had many drives break on me, but not these ones.
