That information would have been great to have at the start of the troubleshooting.

Try these commands in CMD:

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /renew

You can try setting the IP address on the PC manually to:

IPv4 Address: 10.128.2.x (put something between 2 and 254. I'd go for something easy to remember like 111)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Deafult Gateway: 10.128.2.1

EDIT: First, try disabling IPv6 on the PC if it's enabled. It's not used on most private networks.

didnt work says it cant because media is disconnected

If your other devices can't connect either then there's a bigger problem here. Something must have happened that we're not aware of, someone has maybe changed your router's settings and such. Without further info and screenshots this is really hard to try and troubleshoot and egt to the bottom of.

Do you know how to set a static IP address manually? if so I suggest you follow this advice

Quote

You can try setting the IP address on the PC manually to:

IPv4 Address: 10.128.2.x (put something between 2 and 254. I'd go for something easy to remember like 111)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Deafult Gateway: 10.128.2.1

This should hopefully get you connected.

Basically, go to network and sharing center, click on ethernet (in blue), click properties, select ipv4 as below Capture.PNG.2d07977dc2b915c5d02bc01a2332dc2c.PNG

And again click properties...

click on "use the following ip address" button. and enter the details as above quote.

I don't know, they should just be working by DHCP, whihc is why I said something's happened with your router to be messing with all the devices not connecting... yes you can manually set them, but it might be better to figure out what's happened with your router.

For DHCP, you could try looking around the router's settings for an option to renew or reset DHCP leases. If not, you could try changing the DHCP pool which should make it renew DHCP leases.

Also, have you installed the lastest drivers for your network cards? Check what NICs you have and download the latest driver from the manufacturer (not your motherboard's site) and try that.

Try connecting to the router from another device to change settings. I'd also double check your router's local IP address (seems like it should be 10.128.2.1 based on the IPconfig of other PCs).

I suspect that the devices worked previously, and that when the OP reset the router as someone suggested it messed up... and could also explain why he can't get into the router settings anymore. Router settings should always be backed up, and check that you have default passwords etc before resetting, just in case.

I think the best thing you could do is ask the "guy" what he did to your router?  I think it's the root of all your problems.
