System specs?

Wired or Wireless?

Do you have a local connection (ie. on the network, but not internet)?

Tried using a different cable and/or port?

Reinstalled drivers?

Static address or DHCP?

Can you run ipconfig in CMD and post the results?

Have you tried disabling one adapter and leaving the other alone?

Want to make sure it's not a conflict with that.

Try these commands in CMD:

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /renew

You can try setting the IP address on the PC manually to:

IPv4 Address: 10.128.2.x (put something between 2 and 254. I'd go for something easy to remember like 111)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Deafult Gateway: 10.128.2.1

EDIT: First, try disabling IPv6 on the PC if it's enabled. It's not used on most private networks.

Try these things

Change the ethernet cable

try another port on the dhcp device

Verify that what ever is doing the dhcp is not maxing out on the allowed number of IPs available in the pool

verify that its not mac protected when it comes to handing out IPs orver wifi

that will get you started

would need more info like your network setup and hardware

Go to Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Right click on one and click Disable.

Shouldn't matter which, I would try disabling the wireless one first.

Click ethernet from menu on left. click on the adaptor at the top, should say ethernet-not connected or something.

Next windiow, should be a toggle, turn this to ON.

Change it from public to private.

If that does not work power down the pc

I see this on a daily basis at work :(

for wifi

remove your saved network settings under manage wireless networks, in the network and sharing center on the left hand side

reinstall network card drivers

fro wired

power cycle the modem/router/switch the computer is connecting to.

When that device is back online power on your pc

reinstall nic drivers

and curse and swear at MS for creating an OS that likes to do this sort of stuff

Sometimes it helps to reverse the ends of the ethernet cable or trying a new one

Praying to the PC gods also helps

also sometimes just punching the computer will work

seriously this is one of those Windows bugs that just happens for no reason lol

I rarely see it except for new computers, 3 out of 5 times on my own PCs even it will set the network to public and no internet... should fix it the second way I suggested for sure.

I've had it happen 2-3 times a year on me old gaming rig with windows 7.

Would see it a lot after customers reinstalled or upgraded windows, got a new router/modem/computer or after a windows update

In the XP days when it would happen you could usually resolve it by unchecking a box in the network properties, was so much easier.

ON win 7 machines, have seen it a LOT, with win 10 it's hit or miss whether it does it or not, so I reckon about 3 out of 5 times.
