Is r9 290x a good upgrade from gtx 960 4gb?

lol, some people ya just can't help.

CPU: Ryzen 1600X @ 4.15ghz  MB: ASUS Crosshair VI Mem: 32GB GSkill TridenZ 3200
GPU: 1080 FTW PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1000P2 / EVGA SuperNova 750P2  SSD: 512GB Samsung 950 PRO
HD: 2 x 1TB WD Black in RAID 0  Cooling: Custom cooling loop on CPU and GPU  OS: Windows 10

r9 290x prices in country right now is around 120$ and 970 is around 140$ both are blower style btw... My Psu is also 450w seasonic G series 80+GOld...

To be honest I would advise a 1060 or even a RX 580 for that kind of price bracket better performance than a 290x as far as i know anyway what cpu are you working with?

I have a G4560, though im not sure about the newer cards you mention, they are still pretty expensive in my country... I saw a 1060 3gb for 180$ used and 580 4gb at 230$...

I have a 1060 6gb and it's pretty much equal to my friends 390. I'd use a 290 or 390 if I had one just fine.

 

PS- Don't get the 1060 3gb.

290x is actually one of the fastest crypto-mining card, so I bet you would upgrade your system sooner than your plan if you get one 290x:P
