Is the psu enough for my rig

Hello.

 

As the title states, I am wondering if 750W is enough for my future rig. The rig I am planning to build is this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gW9NVY

 

I have been looking at some of the psu calculators but, the problem is I do not know exactly what I should be putting on the different sliders on the different parts. I do plan on overclocking the cpu and the gpu.

 

Is it enough or do I need more or less?

750 watts will be plenty. You could even use a 650 watt unit if you wanted.

How much overhead would I have if I used the 650 unit? I don't want to overspend on the psu but I don't want to close for comfort on the wattage. I apoligize if that was a bit unclear.

Not sure what you mean by overhead...

I think it'll be enough, but there are people way more qualified than me to say that or not.

Nice. The only problem is that Seasonic psu's are a complete b*tch to get in my country.

My apologies. What I meant by overhead was that I didn't want to be pulling 640w from a 650w psu. That would make me uncomfortable since I feel like it's not enough. It's hard to explain but it's mostly a me problem. One last question, how much would the build be pulling from the psu? 500w or seomthing like that?

The computer would use about 400W or so.

Even while overclocked? If it only pulls that amount I will be getting a 650w psu. I thought it would be pulling a lot more. I usually overestimate just to be sure.

750W is enough so you can use even more power hungry parts in the future. For someone spending over $3000 on a PC and use SSDs only for 2TB storage I don't see the point in not getting an overkill PSU.

Ah I see.

 

From this review with a 4.4 ghz 6700k, it looks like the OC version of your card is pulling 350w (whole system, not just gpu) under load. A 4ghz 1700 would probably pull around the same power (Ryzen is quite efficient), so your whole system power draw would probably be under 500w at all times, even with CPU and gpu overclocked.

 

I wouldn't get 550w just to be safe but 650 would be more than enough unless you go sli.

You would be fine with a good 500W PSU.

Honestly, I reckon you just stay with the 750W, if you ever want to SLI or Crossfire later down the line, you have more than enough wriggle room.

I would personally go with 850 if you go sli JUST to be safe

250-300W with Synthetic load for a 1080ti, that leaves 150W+ for the CPU and HDDs if both the GPUs on Synthetic load, and honestly, ~170W is what 1080tis are going it be using under normal load, so it's fine.

If you OC 1080 tis can go up to 300w or so leaving 150 for the rest of the system. That's really not much, the CPU alone might draw over half that which leaves less than 75 for everything else which leaves me not liking it at all. Yes it might be fine but it's cutting it realllyyyy close.
