Asus G20BM-US005; Upgrade to 1050ti HELP

I think about a year ago I bought the ASUS G20BM-US005, not knowing there were different models I saw my computer in videos running The Division, sadly it was a variant with the R9 370, and when I bought my computer, I realized how poorly it performed and couldn't return it as my mother wouldn't let me. I work at a grocery store, front-end. I am planning on save up money to upgrade my prebuilt, but how much do I need to do?

It's a desktop PC.

I did some looking around online and found this forum post where a guy replaced his Asus G20's gtx 960 with a 980. The link is below if you are interested, not sure how easy it would be to fit something in there, but do some research and see if you can find another forum post somewhere to find a compatible GPU.

Link to the mentioned forum post: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?54457-ROG-G20-Overhaul

EDIT: I completely forgot, when I say compatible GPU, I am referring to finding a gpu that fits  the size constraints of the case that the Asus G20 has, since its a small form factor case. Also, if you do get a gpu, Try to find one with a blower style cooler on it, since it would push the hot air out of the case.

Felt answer wasn't detailed enough.

Basically every laptop sold today has a soldered on cpu (Never actually seen one that doesn't), but technically you can upgrade the cpu if you were to buy a brand new motherboard that is from the same model laptop but has a better cpu.

Zotac sells a small form factor model with excellent cooling in a half card size for size issue avoidance. One 90mm fan is air flow which cools the heat fins, the rear 100mm fan is static pressure optimized and will be silent while pulling air through the heatsink directly above the gpu die. It also runs the highest core and boost clock available and is in it's form factor. Should fit fine, just a plug in card.

Good luck.

Hey, thanks so much, I feel like I'm starting to understand how much I need to upgrade. I am considering this card, and right now I have an AMD A58 chipset, with a bad processor (FX-770K) and was wondering if I could put in a B250M with maybe a g4560 or an i3-6100. I also have a PSU 430w + 80. Thanks!

EDIT: I actually have a 230w + 180, apologies, I'm guessing I have an adapter or something.

nope not true either. http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,384,0)TornadoF5 this is a gt62vr chassis btw.

and the second part isn't true either. that is even more untrue than the first statement. you can't just buy motherboards for laptops and expect them to fit EVEN in the same laptop model. Minor difference in firmwares and GSyncability will completely fuck that up.

Laptop Main

(Retired) Zbook 15: i7-6820HQ, M2000M, 32gb, 512gb SSD + 2tb HDD, 4k Dreamcolor

(Retired) Alienware 15 R3: i7-6820HK, GTX1070, 16gb, 512 SSD + 1tb HDD, 1080p

(Retired) T560: i7-6600U, HD520, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1620p

(Retired) P650RS: i7-6820HK, 1070, 16gb, 512gb + 1tb HDD, 4k Samsung PLS

For the first part, that is why I said "basically", because yes, there are exceptions (like what you linked), but most laptops that are commonly bought by people have soldered CPU's. For the second part, I included the word "technically" , because there are some situations where a motherboard swap can be done, and a lot where it can't be done. These were just broad statements, as every laptop model will obviously vary, seeming how they are all proprietary designs, and things like power restraints and differing connections inside the specific laptop could mean you are stuck with whatever cpu you've got. I didn't specifically say "you can change motherboards in a laptop", I rather said "it's possible"

Here is a b250 motherboard with integrated wifi that is reliable: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130999&cm_re=itx-_-13-130-999-_-Product

I would recommend a base i5 since the additional cores will help especially for the price, this one is only $204 and runs at 3.4 from factory: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117730&cm_re=i5-_-19-117-730-_-Product

Good luck M8
