2 500GB or 1TB

If you were to replace a 4TB HDD which is more than needed for an SSD setup would you buy 1 1TB SSD or put 2 500GB SSD's in raid 0 and is it is it worth it? Not concerned as much if I pay a little more for the 2 drives if the price to performance is there.

Go with the single drive if you don't have good backups. RAID 0 increases the risk of failure and data loss. If you're willing to take the risk then go for the two in RAID 0, although you won't see much/if any performance gain.

1TB is always the better option.

 

Edit: A single larger drive is always the better option.

Unless you're willing and prepared to have a really strict daily backup policy I wouldn't recommend RAID0
