Vpn?

I mostly just game on my pc and browse some internet should I even worry about getting a Vpn? Does it even really protect I have seen that people can still get through a VPN without much trouble

Details: 12GB ram, GTX 1080, USB card passed through to windows 10 VM. VM's OS drive is the SATA SSD. Rest of resources are for Plex, Duplicati, Spaghettidetective, Nextcloud, and game servers.

"get through a vpn" what.

 

If the connection is being routed through a NAT and if they're using stateful packet inspection (like any provider with a brain has) then you can't just "get through a VPN". 

 

Unless you really have something to hide from the government, or fear someone's going to be packet bombing your modem, then no, you don't need to waste money on one.

You don't need to "waste money" on it anyway. A good vpn that's also free just launched from proton, called protonvpn, the free users still get the benefit of no logging etc, they just can only use 3 countries servers, check it out here https://protonvpn.com/
