Is thermaltake a good choice for watercooling parts?

Is Thermaltake a good choice for water cooling parts other than EKWB, or bitspower...

No. Only product I would recommend from them is their Riing fans.

They do get a lot of hate but it's not that bad, sure it's less reliable than cooling companies like alphacool, ekwb and such, but it's usable.

If you're on a budget, I'd recommend that you get one of the EK kits.

The slims series one if you're on a budget, otherwise I'd suggest you get the Performance one.

The slim series 240 is cheaper at 200$, however it doesn't have a GPU block. I won't recommend this kit until EK releases individual aluminum parts later this year (confirmed by an EK rep). However before that I won't recommend it to anyone, as it may cause compatibility issues.

it will work unless OP wants to add something else to his loop, like a second GPU or something.

if OP commits to not changing his loop for 6 months, then it's still very good

Thermaltake is a fine company and they make fine products. They're not the best on the market, but they're also not the most expensive. People like to hate on Thermaltake for various reasons, but largely speaking they're more personal bias and regurgitated internet information rather than actual good reasons to hate them or their products. Nothing wrong with a Thermaltake loop if that is what you want and what you can afford, but there are better suppliers with higher quality components if you can afford it (such as EKWB).

Check out performance-pcs.com for various brands. I would go EK if at all possible. I have used a mixture of their stuff and XSPC in the past. Have never had an issue with an EK part. What all are you looking to cool? Can you post a system spec list?

I just did a Ryzen 1800x system with a founders 1080ti. I had dual radiators and a pump/res combo from XSPC. Then blocks for the CPU and GPU from EK. Fittings and tubing will be vastly different from system to system so those will be different for you, but here is my order with tax and shipping. About $800 all said and done. I ordered from Performance-PCs.com as I stated you should check out. Might be worth saving up a little while longer so you have a little bit more in your watercooling budget. Also, I ended up going with a different pump, as well as different coolant, so this is not 100% what you see, but I have also attached a picture of the system during final filling after leak testing.

I see. I did not know where you were located. But hopefully you can find a better deal on this stuff and make a rig that looks much better than mine.

Timestamped to 46:52, goes on for well over 45 minutes.  Thermalfake is still banned from several YT channels, not just Jay and Jerry.

  • 3 years later...

Is Thermaltake PETG tubing good? I've worked with EK soft tubing but no hard tubing.
