Dual-monitor setup with Integrated GPU on motherboard and Discrete GPU

crazysteve240

I am trying to setup dual monitors on my computer but my Integrated GPU on my motherboard is not detecting my secondary monitor. I have checked the BIOS for onboard devices settings and there are no settings for "enable onboard graphics". Any suggestions?

Specs:

Asus P5QL-VM EPU CM5570 motherboard

Intel Xeon X5460

2 x 2GB Hynix DDR2 800, 2 x 1GB Nvidia SLI 800

Hyper 212 Evo

Sapphire HD 7870 Ghz Edition

WD 500 GB HDD, Seagate 200GB HDD, Super Talent 64GB SSD

Thermaltake TR2 600W

Monitor 1: Acer X193W (connected to discrete GPU)

Monitor 2: Samsung SyncMaster 920Nx (trying to connect with Integrated GPU)

Side note: When I reinstalled Windows 10 without the discrete GPU installed, the driver for the integrated GPU showed up in the device manager. After I installed the discrete GPU, that driver disappeared.

you sure there's noting in your bios its usually under chipset and is usually known as multi monitor mode

Xeons don't have iGPUs, so you'll just have to use two inputs on the GPU (which doens't hinder performance).

But, the Integrated GPU is on the motherboard. When I reinstalled Windows with the Xeon processor in the system, the integrated graphics worked fine. The driver for it just disappeared after I put my discrete GPU in the system.

Under Chipset < Northbridge settings, there is an "Initiate Graphic Adapter" option with the options:

-IGD

-PCI/IGD

-PCI/PEG

-PEG/IGD

-PEG/PCI

Which one would be the one to choose for a multi-monitor setup?

as some one else pointed out xeons don't have lgpus so you're probably screwed

"Xeon's don't have iGPUs" Neither does any Core architecture CPU.

Try PEG/IGD.

Try PEG/IGD.

I just tried all of them and none worked. There wasn't an option where I saw both drivers for the display adapters show up in the device manager.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

For all the different options in the BIOS for "Initiate Graphic Adapter" (e.g., PEG/IGD), none of them showed both of the display adapter drivers for the discrete GPU and the integrated GPU.
