Sorry to hera you've had this problem, but unless the data is VERY important, it's not worth getting it recovered. This is why you should always have at least 1 + copies/backup of your important data and maybe cloud backup too. I personally opt for 3 backups of my very important data, 2 of kinda important.

Data recovery is expensive, and they may not recover all, much, or any data. My only experience with this was when the company I worked for tried to recover data. They got very little, mostly useless data, at great expense. Having witnessed that, I became OCD about backing up my drives regularly. I also use an external backup drive so that no matter what happens to my computer, I still have the backups nice and safe.

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

Hi Arjun,

we are sorry to hear you are having issues with your Seagate drive!

Since you are stating the drive is entirely dead, using free data recovery tools (which we normally recommend first) unfortunately will not work. In case the data on the drive is important and needs to be recovered, you can check out our In-Lab Recovery Service which -as mentioned- is a bit costly but the good news is that if we are not able to recover your data, it will not cost you anything! In case you do have any questions before trying that service, please go to the linked page and ask any questions you might have...
