GTX 1080ti with a GTX 980ti for physx

Ok so I am running 4K 60htz with my 980ti but thinking I'll get a 1080ti, question is would having my 980ti as a physx card help at all?

Linus made video about it. Check it out. Leave PhysX on main GPU.

Great idea! One problem, though... Why are you using a 300W GPU for PhysX? Get a 750 Ti.

I've had experienced using second card for dedicated PhysX and the results were not to my satisfaction. I remember pairing 980ti with 780ti, which I upgraded from, and I actually had more performance degradation than actually using 980ti on its own.

 

I don't think there had been any recent upgrade to how PhysX works to make me think that this issue is resolved.

I think degrade was misschoice of words he most likely meant negatively impact performance.

i'd sell the 980Ti. 

PhysX is mostly extinct. The only game that has an active community and still uses it is Warframe, with a 1080ti you already have enough FPS to fill any refresh rate.

It depends on how the software handles PhysX. Just like how some games can lose performance when using SLI or Crossfire. It's how the game handles it.
