Monitor dies and later revives

Hello, my friend has a problem. Every day when he tries to turn on his monitor it dies. It stays dead with no sign of life for some time. After awhile it recovers and works whole day like nothing have happened. Any ideas?

Plugged into an extension cord or the power outlet itself?

When it "dies" can you shine a flashlight on it and see a faint image?

It may be a defective monitor. Try RMA?

Its likely the lights inside about to give out. Had that happen to me when bought my first monitor as a kid. 

 

Tell your friend either rma it cuz its just a matter of time before the bulbs die out, or if he have the cash, buy a new one.
