EVGA 650W G1 Psu Very Loud

G1 has always been loud. And bad quality. Replace with G2/G3

Recently bought this power supply to finish off my build, I understand it is not the greatest, however it fit my needs/budget, and I had a very terrible 500w Zalman psu that I needed to replace.
I installed the power supply no sweat, however when I turned on the system, the fan is incredibly loud, louder than when I have my 6 low end case fans running at 100% infact, and far louder than the cheap Zalman unit I was using.
It sounds as if the fan on the unit is running at 100%, when my system is drawing very little load gpu + cpu at idle. It doesn't sound like it wants to slow down at all.

Is this normal? None of the reviews I read stated anything about fan noise being this excessive, and with various of power supplies I've owned, its definitely the loudest.
System Specs:
Ryzen 5 1600 @ stock speeds

Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x4Gb @2400 (stock)

Asrock b350 Pro Atx Mobo

Gigabyte Gtx 1070

1 x SSD

1 x HDD

6 Generic Case fans controlled via molex fan hub

PSU: EVGA 650 G1 Fully Modular PSU.

CPU: 6400 @4.6Ghz/1.35v MOBO:GA-Z170M-D3H RAM: 8GB @2720Mhz Case: Corsair 88R GPU: MSI RX470 @1350/1720

G1 itself is just kind of loud, but that sounds louder than normal. I would rma it.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Here is two terrible videos where you can hear the psu, in all honesty I didnt even need to put my phone mic up against the power supply you could hear it over everything else.
Note in the second video you can also hear an odd noise when the power supply seems to be spinning up the fan.

What power supply would you all recommend in the region of ~80 USD? I pretty much need to buy off amazon as I live outside of the states and they're the only retailer who cheaply ships to me in New Zealand

Will 550w give me plenty of headroom? I plan on watercooling my Ryzen 5 1600 and OC'ing both it and my GPU

it should be good enough, the 1070 doesn't eat alot of power.

Perfect, will sort out RMA'ing this one, and purchase one of the above.
They look pretty much the same, with the G2 being slightly longer but with a bigger fan. May aswell go for that one?

Since you are buying a new PSU because of noisy unit, get the G2 as it is quieter. The G3 has a bit more aggressive fan profile.
