"Desk Computer" (the desk is the case)

Good luck! Should be a pretty solid PC in terms of performance, but you'd better make sure it's solid in terms of... stability.

Bad pun? Ok...

The 1070 has been treating me very well, it is probably the best computer part purchase I have made in a long time. And as far as the nay Sayers scolding AMD users on the 1070 being held back by the FX series, I have not seen any lack in performance for my build. Thanks.

Final Build Specs:

FX 8350 OC'd 4.34ghz

Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0

16gb G Skill 1866 ram

EVGA GTX 1070 sc 8gb

Corsair Hydra 100i GTX cpu cooler

Corsair RM750x power supply

1 TB Western Digital HD (for OS) (Windows 10)

400 GB Intel 750 series AIC SSD (for steam library)

Cooler Master Ultra Quiet 120mm fans (x 12) (for a total of 17 total system fans)

*Don't worry its actually very quiet

NZXT front side touch screen fan controller

Some random dvd drive

I like how this has turned out dude. I would do one myself if I could afford it actually. I would probably also get a super large mouse pad to stop my mouse being caught on where the top connects to one another/ to smoothen out mouse movements. I like it though!

Thanks.

As far as affordability goes, the parts cost about $1500 and the desk materials cost about $500. The only reason why the price tag was even this high was because of the graphics card and the SSD. There are cheaper graphics cards out there, 8gb of video ram is not for everyone. Most games will run fine on lesser cards. And the SSD is completely unnecessary. I only have it because I am very impatient when it comes to load times in games. The SSD cost me like $300 or so. It would be cheaper to just run the system off one regular SATA SSD instead. Really this system was an experimental build at a time when I was not sure when Zen was coming out and I needed a new system, and hopefully I could inspire others to build systems like this. A lot of my friends are Intel fan boys. Do not get me wrong Intel makes "some" good stuff, but I am a die hard AMD guy and I wanted to build an AMDish build that would perform well for not too big of a budget, you know..for my intel friends...

But with the new AMD Ryzen platform and the new i9 stuff on the horizon, I would tell all to just wait before building a new rig. There will be cheaper and better stuff just around the corner. Again thanks.
