Processor hitting 70°C at idle? Looking for compact air cooler

So, where I live the summers have become increasingly hot, and the building i'm in doesn't have central air or a window AC capable of cooling down a room that's probably around 2000 cubic feet (I live in a building that used to be a music store)

 

The CoolerMaster Elite 110 i'm using is rather cramped and the processor idles at about 70°C, I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a good air cooler that will fit within is what I would guess is about 2 to 2 1/2 inches of clearance between my motherboard and PSU (Thats aproximately 5.08 to 6.35 cm if you use metric)

I'm just using the stock cooler atm.

I have a Silverstone AR-06 that's a low profile 95W cooler that I think should fit in your case.

 

Otherwise maybe the Zalman CNPS-8900 or a Noctua NH-L9i should do.

Yup, then you can use the Noctua one. That one is a pretty good low profile cooler. 

You should also try replacing the thermal compound and cleaning the current cooler, and see if that makes any difference

It's a brand new processor so it shouldn't be needing cleaning. Although I will be replacing the thermal compound with some Artic Silver Ceramique I got on sale.

As the proud owner of an A10-6800K, it was time for a system upgrade the minute that OP bought the APU.

I actually almost bought that, but my feeble bank account screamed in terror at the $100 price tag

Be glad you didn't, it's pretty mediocre and one would be better served with an FX processor and a GT 210 as a place holder.
