Will I get banned if I use a VPN/SOCKS5 proxy (DigitalOcean)?

The title says it all. For privacy reasons I started using a home made VPN with Squid. Will I get banned from LTT/Floatplane because of it? Sorry if it's a dumb question...

If your VPN is any good there is no real way for them to tell... For many people that is the singular reason to get a VPN in the first place :P

And btw.. I guess not... I am using a VPN for the forum currently because of a weird issue, that makes the forum unusably slow where I am, but works fine via a vpn to a close by city...

PS: No question is a dumb question :)

That's a wonderful sentiment but I work in product support.  That 'no question is a stupid question' thing ends after grade school.

Only issue would be that Cloudflare thinks IP is being used for DDoS.

vpn doesnt swap your public IP, it gives you a new IP (this could be shared too), and just has a different path for all your traffic. It doesnt hide you from LTT, it only means your ISP doesnt know that you visited LTT. However VPNs are a very poor way for anonymity this is because many intelligence groups are co operating, so could be your ISP node and the end node are being watched, a search based logging system logs the information and matches up your traffic and is just like not using a vpn, the difference is that while the government will know what you're up to your ISP wont, which is a good thing now as ISPs are wanting to sell your data for profit. You should have a right to that profit as its your data.

You won't get a ban, but you may have cloud flare issues sometimes

That or no stupid questions, just stupid people.

OP's was a legit decent question though imo if someone wasn't sure.
