RX 580 (8GB) vs GTX 1060 (6GB) + old monitor

hi guys

ive got an old monitor, lcd 17'' bought in 2005 (with DVI-D port), right now im using it; in the next months i will probably buy a new one.

i've read that gtx 1060 has G sync and RX 580 has freesync. If i buy one of these cards it will work on my monitor right(they have got dvi-d port)?

and about the future monitor....if i decide to buy gtx 1060 can i still use it with a Freesync monitor?

and if i buy a standard monitor (no sync) will it work with gtx 1060 or rx 580?

it seems g sync monitors are more expensive than freesync and no sync monitors.

lastly, what would you buy rx 580 (8gb) or gtx 1060 (6gb)? the price is almost the same. rx 580 has more ram but tests say that gtx 1060 is better with directx 11 games.

any answers are really appreciated,

thank you

regards

Any monitor will work as long as it has the right connectors. (DVI-D, HDMI, Displayport)  Yes, the Freesync monitor will work with the GTX 1060, however you will not be able to use Freesync itself, only the monitor.

Personal build >  New-ish AMD main gaming setup

rx580 should trade blows with gtx1060, plus freesync monitor is cheaper. I would go for rx580.

Yes, all these card will work with your monitor, and they will work even if your new monitor doesnt have any sync. you will just see some screen tearing here and there.

As long as the cryptocurrency miners are keeping the 580 at 1070 prices, I wouldn't.

Go with 580, editions such as PowerColor Red Devil Golden Sample easily faster.
