VW Baja Bug tips

im thinking of getting a Volkswagen beetle and turning it into a baja bug as my first car. i really dont know much about baja bugs and could really use some help. i live in fresno california and looking for a beetle within 300 miles of me.  here are my requirements

 

  • max budget for stock car $1500 USD
  • can have trashed interior (will redo it)
  • complete engine(doesn't have to run), transmission, rear drive
  • comfy offroad seats not too spendy
  • wide eye front end
  • custom made bumpers with detachable winch mounts to mount it front and rear
  • all terrain tires, same on all four
  • roof rack with spare tire mount
  • all windows intact

So... what exactly is your question?

 

If those are your requirements, you need to start looking. I suggest Autotrader, Craigslist, and eBay to start.

 

You will not likely find one that meets all of your criteria. You'll likely need to source the all-terrain tires and custom bumpers separately, for one.

1. Bugs are expensive. Do not get one as your first car. Parts for them now either suck shit, or are spendy.

2. Its California. Theres a Bug ever street.

3. You're gonna want tk raise your budget.
