Well, with a game like Destiny, you shouldn't really need 144Hz, plus make on sure that you don't have a monitor with VGA or DVI, as those ports won't let you play at those kinds of resolutions!

DVI-D which is on most modern GPUs can do up to 2560x1600 @60Hz

I don't think there's official pricing of those upcoming monitors yet, I think.

Once that launches, other monitor prices will likely drop a little bit too.

Even if not going 4k 144hz (due to pricing), 1440P 144hz monitors will be at a more reasonable pricing by then.
