Nixeus NX-EDG27 - The first WQHD IPS 30 - 144hz FreeSync monitor

Nixeus unveiled a new 27" monitor aimed directly at gamers, aptly named the Nixeus NX-EDG27.

It's apparently the first 27" 1440p IPS monitor to feature Freesync across the full 30 - 144hz range. If you're into low requirement games this may be the monitor for you!

After taking a look at PCPartPicker, this appears to be the cheapest IPS display with a 144hz refresh rate. It's also one of the more feature rich, but unfortunately has pretty thick bezels.

It also features low framerate compensation, something that not every Freesync monitor has, for a smooth experience when the framerate drops too low.

An HAS stand is also on deck, so we have height, swivel, pivot, and tilt as well as built in cable management.

• 2560x1440
• IPS (AHVA) 8 bit panel
• 4MS response time
• Freesync with LFC (30 - 144) and variable Anti Ghosting
• DP, HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.4a, DVI-D connections. Audio input and output
• HAS stand
• 3 year warranty
• $499 USD

 

On paper this looks to be a hit, and checks almost everything I'd be looking for in a monitor. It'd be perfect if it had thin bezels, a USB hub and Freesync 2, but that would of course raise the price. Hard to tell if it has a glossy bezel, which would definitely reduce it's overall score imo.

 

Now, if only we had an AMD card that could actually take full advantage of the monitor in AAA titles...

It lacks HDR and thin bezels, so it's off mine.

I remember reading about this a week or 2 ago. They make nice monitors. I love mine.

The PX277 has existed for quite a while as a sub-$400 IPS 1440p 144Hz Freesync monitor (in general, PCPP is bad at detecting deals). Cheaper but worse stand and no low frame rate compensation. Still a very good panel, though.

The base seems unnecessarily wide, but yay for another monitor. 

 

My first 1440p monitor was the Nixeus Vue in 2013 which I foolishly broke while dismantling.

I don't usually consider the B grade Korean monitors to be comparable...

Aye, I just noticed no one bothered commenting on it. Seems like a solid choice for a monitor though.

Yay! I've been looking at an ASUS one that has all the features, low blue light, speakers, brilliant colors. But this one is only $100 more and it's 144Hz....

Nixeus monitors give you the ability to reduce bluelight with the touch off a button. You can also check to see that FreeSync is working.

Oh so it just follows the same hideous design.

Still, there's no mention of LFC, and the quoted Freesync range is 55 - 144. Not quite the same.

It also only has a 1 year warranty.

The one they make is GSync, not Freesync. It's also smaller, and TN. So not quite the same thing.

The AG271QX is more comparable, cheaper at $415, has a USB hub (), but it's only a TN panel. If one's not an IPS whore (like myself), that'd be a very tempting option.

I don't really need FreeSync. I've got a 1050Ti and plan on upgrading to a 980 Ti/1070 or maybe a 1080.

You can get a pretty nice set of speakers for like $25. It is a computer part

Sound is arguably one of the most important aspects next to visuals, and often overlooked.

This is actually exactly what I'm looking for. Probably be $400 on sale which I'm more than happy to wait for but I think I'll end up getting a 21:9 1440p 60Hz curved IPS panel first

I know... but it doesn't make my computer run faster. I suppose I could just get a cheap Logitech set, but I'd like something with a lot of thump for when I play music.

I've been so torn between getting a 35/38" 21:9 or 2 27" monitors.

Speed isn't everything. Much the same with cars. "You can't always go fast, but you can always look good."

Honestly, depending on what you do I'd almost just use headphones. You'll get a more immersive gaming experience that way.
