you can also say that we die so we can live. same meaning but different perspective. anyway i think both are correct, i firmly believe in hard determinism so its just another meaning to give to the same thing.

I think we're just too smart and too self-aware for our own good and have just reached a point in our species where we get to ask ourselves deeply philosophical questions like these, as opposed to just be concerned about finding food and shelter for the night. I mean personally, I don't believe that there is any kind of reason to life, we just happened to evolve up to this point and now have the 'luxury' to ask these kinds of questions.

In the end, it's up for you to decide for yourself if you want to comfort yourself in giving your life a sense of purpose or meaning (not trying to downplay that, it's just not for me) or if you're okay with accepting that you're born into a world where you are going to have to fulfill your role in society for a certain amount of time until you die and a couple of generations down the line it's as like you never even existed (for most of us 'everyday' guys/girls anyways).

idk I've been rambling on enough now, would love to hear other peoples thoughts as well

But whats the point in passing it down? to whom? they will have to die too..what will be the final result? everything will eventually end with humanity....there's literally no point. every single being is here to eventually die.. no matter the generation..and when the world end, Everything will end with it

Either way, yes, we live, we die, we love, we get heartbroken, we're happy and we're sad. 

This is the eternal rollercoaster ride that is human life. 

We're ultimalty working towards nothing but our grave, and I'm actually fine with that.

I do find a solace in knowing that there isn't an ultimate goal for life. 

The whole Church of Euthanasia mentality is pretty lost on me.

 

You're life on this earth is so limited, so why not get the best out of it? While your life will inevitably lead to death, it's what you do in life that matters.

Just becuase you die in the end it doesn't mean you didn't have fun. Just becuase the fun doesn't lead to anything eternal it doesn't devalue it. 

I would actually argue that it increases the value infinitely. Since our time is limited, we should value the things that we do. 

Just becuase all food ends up being shit, it doesn't mean you should live off oatmeal and communion waffers for the rest of your life.

 

All the times you have laughed, cried, fucked, eaten, loved and accomplished even the smallest of goals you have enriched your own life in the moment.

That's not what I meant. I meant 'generations' as to measure the time it takes until you're forgotten (even though that's probably an optimistic estimate  )
Of course everything will end eventually. In a couple of billion years our sun will start dying and expand, engulfing our planet and whatnot to eventually collapse and that'll be it for our solar system (or something along those lines). 

In an unimaginable amount of time the universe will probably go dark after the last star has burnt up its fuel and there may be no life ever again. The thing is we can't control those kinds of things, we can only come to terms with it.

I mean we came from nothing and we go back to nothing... alright... but out of billions of spermatozoids we got ourselves the luck to have a break from the nothingness and won this free life which can have its awesome moments.

 

In my humble opinion just living already is profit, better than be nothing forever, even if briefly we existed and were allowed to experience great stuff, why should it be bad then?

Kind of a pessimistic thought. Life is too complicated to make it that black & white plus death isn't necessarily a bad thing. Only a handful of creatures on earth have perpetual life and even then they will die someday. When death is reached it will bring life to other organisms. In my opinion humans favor themselves over other creatures too much and I think it's due to the difference in the level of intelligence. Be happy you even have the intelligence to question your own existence and purpose because most other species can't. I can't necessarily invalidate your opinion of life but I strongly believe life is so much more complicated than that so I cannot share your perspective.

Thats what i mean by temporary happiness.. most people feel comfort in death because they believe there's an afterlife somehow but as i mentioned, there is no confirmation of this.

 

this can be made up just to keep us motivated and not give up on life entirely because if we were to believe that we will never get to see what we achieved ever again.. we will not find reason to achieve it..

 

same as people saying that religion is division.. it diveds the faith of humanity.. 

 

but at the same time.. religion (the right ones) give us stability and laws to live by

Going to have to disaggree with you here, the laws to live by should in the first place be handled by the government and its laws. As long as you abide by those you can live by whatever religious rules you want.

Essentially you've arrived at the point which Nietzsche arrived at in the late 19th century. 

The demolishing of transcending values in the face of a godless and materialistic universe.

 

The solution (according to Nietzsche) is to create your own rules and laws to live by. Be the god you killed. 

Give your own life value and purpose, live your life so that you have lived for something when you die. 

You life should matter only to you, and if others find value in you then that's just a bonus.

I'd rather live by secular laws that are universally applicable than to live by some arbitrary belief.

what do you mean by that?.. define 'nothing'.. we cant put a quote on nothing.. as if we had a conscious.. we were put on earth to get life to enjoy it but die? sometimes we die without even finding happiness.. some people want happiness and died from sickness which is not their fault.. and some are born in war and hunger and terror.. and the one who is out of it waste more time because they don't know their value of their out life..

 

 

at the end of it all. we have to die.. all your kids have to die and their kids.. till something happens to the world or universe, then there is no more life.. 

 

people grasp on the idea of an afterlife for comfort... and to be reborn into this very earth..only to die again....

 

 

i render this experience pointless..  we're going to feel pain more than anything

that's not what i said. in order to live you have to die, that is the price you pay for life. its a positive take on the same statement as we live to die. we die to live.
