Xeon Platinum and Gold CB15 benchmarks

NumLock21

Benchmark for Intel Xeon Platinum and Gold cpus part of the Skylake-E line up has been leaked. The cpus they ran the test were,

  • Intel Xeon Platinum 8176 @ 2.10GHz 28C / 56T
  • Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 @ 2.70GHz 24C / 48T
  • Intel Xeon Gold 6161 @ 2.20GHz 22C / 44T
  • Intel Xeon Gold 6142 @ 2.60GHz 16C / 32T

All of them was tested on a dual socket system, so each has of them has two of those cpus.

Does pin count = bigger cpu?

Threadripper has more contacts

alright what the fuck

xeon platnium and gold?

yeah, somoene call intel up and order us 100 xeon platnium core i9 9371-38v 8 ultra fast cpu for workstation grade compute performance for the ultimate server you need right now as soon as possible revision 3.939

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Will we see a Bronze Xeon, will the silver Xeon be rare AF and will the Titanium Xeon exist? Do they also have an 80+ TDP?

Those results are amazingly in-line with what you would expect from Skylake cores at that speed.  Though I think the top result might have had an issue populating all of the threads, otherwise it has the through-put below an FX chip.

The systems are running right around 1200 score per 8c/16t, give or take 20 points on both sides.  For reference, the Ryzen 7 1700, at stock of 3.0 Ghz/Boost 3.7 Ghz, turns in a score of ~1400.

I'm starting to think Skylake-SP is the exact same IPC at Kaby Lake.  Or the uplift is extremely difficult to pull out.

but what about some EPYC CPUS tho? that dosent sound much better does it?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Epic extreme edition Intel core Xeon platnium plated gold edition for usage in very high end severs and desktop work stations for business usage and with support for a fuck ton of ram and pcie lanes up the ass, über fast CPU with great and astonishing compute power

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

That core clock, though. Kinda crazy all things considered.

That was kind of expected with that core clock difference. What's actually crazy is the difference between the golds. The lower core count gold is over 50% faster in cinebench. Something doesn't seem right.

EDIT: what's also weird is with only 6 more cores, the 28 core cpu gets 2x the score of the 22 core cpu.

You forgot to put an X at the end to signify it's extremeness.

You can see why in the bottom right of the pictures showing the core usage, CB isn't using any more than the 16 cores per CPU so the higher clocked one will win always.

Edit:

In fact it looks like the 6161 has fewer cores being utilized than the 6142 as well, 11 vs 16 per CPU. Wonder if it's some kind of total package power limiting getting in the way.

what are those holes in the heat spreader? is it for prototyping or will it be in the final result?

I didn't even know CB had that sort of scaling issues.

That or it's the CPUs limiting themselves, or that it's WCCFTech...

Yes we will, in fact this is Intel's new xeon naming scheme. Lowest one will be xeon bronze. They talked a bit about it, 2 wan shows back, but the info was already well known way before that.

Intel ran out of obscure nomenclatures, so they steal Pokemon's? Do they think we are going to buy these Xeon's just to "Catch 'Em All"? :P
