what do you want to play and at what resolution? or are you doing work with the machine? id get a RX 580 if the minig craze isnt too insaine and you are aiming for 1080p maxed out. if thats what you want but the mining craze is makeing the RX 580 hard to get then either wait for Vega if you can care for that or get a GTX 1070. if you are comfortable with used cards then you could look for used GTX 1080s, seen a few go for around $350(saw one for $320 when they were at their most expensive even)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

RX 580 isn't an upgrade from a GTX 970

You have zero reason to upgrade GPU, or CPU cooler. In fact, the only real 'upgrade' from your H100i V2, would be a custom loop. As for the GTX 970, a GTX 1070 would be the minimum GPU for an upgrade, but that's overkill for 1080p, and your GTX 970 is still more than capable of playing 1080p.

for $500 id honestly pick up a used I7 7700K and a used 1070 but if you dont wana do that get yourself a GTX 1070 and whatever cooler you can afford. the one you have is pretty overkill for that I5 tbh if its noice thats bothering you just slap new fans on it and if its temps the you could get an NH-D15 lol

what... you know the 970 preforms worse then the RX 470 right? the RX 580 is a noticable and worth while upgrade if you want to stay relevant running the latest AAA titles at 1080p. the 970 is lower mid end now. just like the GTX 780. this is the reason Linus needs to make a mid end cards roudup like he did with the flagships...

I would like a cooler that came out this year
The reason is that my cooler is already having high temperatures and the fans sound a lot And the graphics card already sold

The only reason to upgrade the H100 would be if its 3+ years old, and even then if its not making extra noise then its working fine. As for recommendations the kraken x62 is pretty pricey so id also throw the H115, or an older H110 for cheaper if you can find one. For GPU if your playing 1080p a 580 (out of stock atm) or a 1060 6g will do you well, however dont have a massive gain over a 970 tbh. Youd have to step to a 1070 or upward to see a large gain.

CPU: Intel i9 9900K Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z390-F RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX @ 3000MHz CL15 GPU: Gigabyte 1080Ti Windforce w/ AIO Liquid cooler Case: Fractal Design Define S Storage: 500GB Samsung 970 Evo NVME, 1TB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB SanDisk Ultra II, 2TB Samsung 860 QVO PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Gold 850W Display: 1440p 144Hz Acer XG270HU CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 Keyboard: Logitech G Pro TKL Mouse: Logitech G403 Wireless Sound: Fiio E10k + Sennheiser HD6xx + Logitech Desktop Tower Speakers OS: Windows 10 Home

If the cooler has 4 years of use. The resolution of 1080 does not matter so much I just say xq my monitor is it. I have seen more new ones than kraken x62 but I do not know what to throw or if I buy that

No, it doesn't.

No, it isn't. It's a mid ranged GPU, it trades blows with the GTX 1060 and RX 480/580. The GTX 970 out-performs the GTX 780. The GTX 780 performs somewhere between the GTX 1050Ti, and 3GB GTX 1060.

RotTR, almost exactly in between the 1050Ti and 3GB 1060, and as you can see, the GTX 970 performs considerably better than the 470/570, even out-performing the 480.

Far Cry Primal, again, GTX 780 performs almost exactly in the middle of the 1050Ti and 3GB 1060. This time, the GTX 970 performs on par with the 470, but again, still perfectly fine for 1080p, and considering it's less than 10% slower than a 480, it doesn't warrant a $200+ price tag for an RX 480, since that wouldn't be an upgrade. It would be a sidegrade, at best, a waste of money.

The Division, 780 performs closer to 1050Ti here, and the 970 is about 10% slower than an RX 470, but again, the 970 is perfectly capable for 1080p, and an RX 480/580 would be a waste of $200. It's not enough of an 'upgrade' to warrant the $200+ price tag.

Overwatch, GTX 780 performs closer to 3GB 1060 than 1050Ti, and the GTX 970 out-performs the RX 480.

Even in DOOM, the GTX 970 performs within 10% of the RX 470. Even though the RX 480 is about 25% faster in DOOM, it's pretty much irrelevant considering the GTX 970 already gets beyond 144FPS.

Mirror's Edge, and F1, the RX 470 performs poorer than the GTX 970 and the 480 is within 10% of the 970.

Watch Dogs 2, GTX 970 performs closer to RX 480 than RX 470, and is 10% faster than the 470.

For Honor, GTX 970 is 10% ahead of RX 470, 10% behind RX 480.

If you look at the averages over all 22 games, you'll see the GTX 970 performs exactly on par with the RX 470, and is 10-15% slower than the RX 480. 10-15% performance boost is not worth $200+, especially when the GTX 970 can already play games at 1080p perfectly fine.
