  • This is the Chinese government’s latest achievement in its ongoing effort to lead the world in renewable energy adoption.

  • The 40-megawatt facility was constructed over a flooded former coal-mining region

  • These floating apparatus free up land in more populated areas and also reduce water evaporation. The cooler air at the surface also helps to minimize the risk of solar cell performance atrophy, which is often related to long-term exposure to warmer temperatures.

  • Is 40 MW a lot? Not really. Most coal-fired plants are over 1,000. See source 2 for list of bigger solar projects.

  • Two Twitter users who were blocked by Trump after they criticized the president are claiming that their exclusion from being one of Trump's followers amounts to a First Amendment breach of their constitutional rights.

  • The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University is asking Trump to unblock anyone he has blocked on Twitter.

  • Because politicians are harnessing social media as a means of political discourse, the institute calls Trump's account a "designated public forum."

  • "When new communications platforms are developed, core First Amendment principles cannot be left behind,"

  • The letter also makes the same request for the president's @POTUS account.

  • The institute said it might sue if its clients' Twitter feeds remain blocked.

  • Facebook has patented a technology that uses 'passive imaging data' from your phone’s camera to surmise your emotional state and serve ads appropriately.

  • If you were forlorn, for example, it would be able to serve an ad to perk you up, or know what products you had previously looked at in such a state and put them under your nose at just the right time.

  • the patent describes how the technology could tell if a user's expression changed while looking at posts or pictures from a certain person and would show more or less of these in the future.

China Activates World's Largest Floating Solar Power Plant

Source 1: https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/china-floating-solar-power-plant/

Source 2: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_photovoltaic_power_stations

  • China has announced that the largest floating photovoltaic facility on earth has been completed and connected to the local power grid.
