Rumors have resurfaced about an Intel cpu with amd gpu. An intel hd graphics card was spoted on sisoft with a hardware ID reportedly of amd. 

Personally, i liked the idea of a an intel APU with amd gpu so much when the rumors surfaced earlier, that i refused to belive that the rumors weren't true. And now that there is even a remote possibility that these rumors may be true all along and intel was just avoiding unnecessary attention, i am not giving up. I want to see an intel-amd crossover. However, the fact still remains that intel still invested a lot in its graphics division, so this move still sounds questionable. And with the rumored cpu being a 2c/2t processor, this is definitely not aimed at the high end and not even the mid end. Any thoughts guys?

Still not gonna happen. MIGHT be fundamental IP rights to make GPU's (like patents for making pixels, output pixels to display, make a framebuffer, etc). NVidia's deal is up, so Intel might get it cheaper from AMD. But these are patents, NOT architectures.

 

From a business perspective, AMD's APU's are the pinnacle of what AMD is able to make. It is exactly what no one other but AMD are capable of making. So Ryzen APU's (with Vega architecture) will insanely good processors for cheaper computers/laptops (even low/midend gaming laptops). For AMD to help Intel be a great competition on THE core market of AMD makes less than no sense.

Most of the ES Samples have likely been an Intel system running a Vega test GPU.

 

However, there is the possibility that Apple has bought a supply of unpackaged Intel CPUs and AMD GPUs and put them on a package themselves.  It wouldn't be the weirdest move in the world, and, since they control the motherboards themselves,there is little issue to making them into a useful package. (Also, with the X299 coming out, Intel also has a collection of dies without the iGPU.)
