Can't really blame their security without knowing how it happened. Most theft is internal. Also, you spelt their name wrong.

According to the message on their Twitter (I read the note before visiting these forums), the files that were stolen pertain to their yet-to-be-released Cyberpunk 2077 preliminary documents (as in early iterations). The ransom was undisclosed, and I don't think CD Projekt Red is going to release that information.

I think that CD Projekt Red actually handled this well enough.

 

People that want to know everything about the Cyberpunk 2077 can now jump for joy even though the leaked info will supposedly be mostly inaccurate.

People that don't want to get spoiled just don't have to look.

CD Projekt keeps their money.

Thieves can go screw themselves.

 

Besides, I think that a game that is supposed to be on a much larger scale than The Witcher 3 is still in an early to mid development and even then, the leak would have to be immensely large to cause any real damage.

Well maybe the alpha they lost is fairly shitty so they want to preemtively say "hey come on this isn't indicative of the final product!"

 

After all they are also guilty of significant visual downgrades on promotional pre-launch materials vs what was delivered.
