Good method of getting rid of dust?

BalloonZaptor

I'm having a big issue with dust in my Phantom any good ideas of getting rid of the dust and/or preventing it.

I've got dust on my gpu inside my front fan grill and covered on 2 of my fans I recently took out.

Non-Static cloth, fingers, air in a can ( but be gentle!) and use more fingers. There has to be a lot of finger action.

Fan filters and compressed air. There is no solution to get everything completely dust free, unless you live in a vacuum :D

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

Hardware likes a lot of finger action indeed ^^

But anyway: Compressed air is your best friends here so just get some of it and blow it hard :) If that doesn't work as much as you want then just rub it well with a lint free cloth :)

1. Compressed Air can. They're pretty cheap, but obviously they get empty after a number of usage. Always use it upright.

2. Small Computer Vacuums. These are generally best used to clean small things, like between your keyboard keys.

3. Leaf Blower. Yep, a leaf blower. Just take your case outside, open up the covers, and turn on the leaf blower on it. Blow from a distance of 1 meter or so.

Also, get appropriate filters for your fans and make sure the air pressure in your case is positive.

Why don't we get a wind turbine in there?

Wind turbines don't generate wind. It's the opposite. They use wind to generate electricity, or use that energy in some other mechanical way.

I meant the ones on jet engines. THOSE will clean nicely!

Those turbines work like any others. Their main function is to convert the energy from the the expanding hot air within the combustion chamber, to mechanical, rotational energy. So the actual air flow is generated by the combustion chamber, by igniting air and fuel.

That sweet flow of 850 degree Celsius high pressure exhaust sure seems great for cleaning.

A good way to prevent the build up is to have a positive air pressure in your case.  You can calculate the pressure but the easiest way is to have more intake than exhaust.  Having a positive air pressure pushes the dust out of all vents and grills etc

Prevention is better than the cure.

Air compressor as in...shop air compressor?

NOT RECOMMENDED if so.

Be careful if you are; the air pressure from those can be very dangerous!! Don't use it at point-blank on your computer. Depending on how pressurized it is, you should be a few feet away.
