Why the 1050 TI? in place of 1050.

There is no reason why the 1050 TI is the best seller.

 

I mean 1050TI it's 40% more expensive and less than 10% better.

 

I will recomend to buy a 1050 instead of the Ti.

1050 has only 2GB VRAM which is showing signs of bottlenecking the card now, even at 1080p. 

 

Hence why I'd rather throw down the extra $20

Neither of them are really "worth" it when compared to the rx570. normally only $20ish more than the 1050ti, but offers about 40% better performance.

Well, first off you can get a 1050Ti for $130, so it's 30% more than a 1050. Secondly, a 1050Ti is about 20% faster than a 1050 after both are overclocked and a 1050ti comes with more VRAM (4gb vs. 2gb).

1050 = 2GB

1050 Ti = 4GB

 

The 1050 will be virtually useless outside of HTPC/light gamer applications within a couple of generations. The 1050 Ti has an extra generation or two under its belt, and that will only look better and better as games start utilizing larger amounts of VRAM.

Most AAA games (the 1050 can run them at modest settings) will use more than 2GB easily, definitely makes the Ti the minimum for anyone even remotely thinking about gaming.

In my experience the horse power of a card with 2 gb vram will be best for a 1050. i mean if you have that card and raise the textures or resolution to reach 3 gb you will be seen with lower than 50 fps.

 

I have a Nvidia 760 2 gb and believe me i do perfect in 2560x1080. 

 

Conclution you do not need 4 GB vram for that horse power. and it is true, buy an AMD 470 instead. also freesync is capable in today's almost monitors.

The amount of VRAM used depends on how intense your game settings are, a GTX 760 won't go Ultra or even High settings on the demanding games which mean less VRAM is used. Cards like the RX 550 have no point of having 4GB of VRAM as it won't max out settings or even medium settings on the demanding games leaving 2GB VRAM well enough.

A 1050 TI has double the VRAM, and I think more CUDA cores than a 1050. And some people (like me), can only afford a 1050 Ti at the time of purchase, and often don't know about the RX570.

I had a 770 with Ultrawide and I hated it. 

GTA for example would load really low quality car interiors, stutter and drop frames due to the 2GB VRAM on that card.

RX470 and RX570 are great cards for the money... but can you find any? or... can you find any that aren't marked up 50%. All that mining going on.

 

1050Ti is a very nice card, for the right price and the right person.

yeah, but if you can find one for msrp its a MUCH better buy than a 1060. especially given that its got a higher compute power, meaning it will work better in the future

eh, not ultra. on most games, yes, but if you want 60fps, you may have to do some adjusting. same goes for 580

Etherium is very popular to mine at the moment, it is a currency that requires a system to crunch/hash/dig through mathematical calculations to aquire "coins" and the more cards you have and the better those cards are at "digging" the more currency you earn and can then turn in for real money at whatever the current exchange rate is (minus fees). (If i have butchered that explanation of mining please correct me, I have only a basic understanding of what calculations are actually being performed)

 

Will it continue to hold value? Maybe... at the moment it is all speculative mining, etherium could be a flop and worth nothing or it could become like bitcoin. IMO(a very uninformed one to boot) unless there are actual places to use the currency to purchase actual things then it will likely flop. Analogy: if everyone is mining for gold but no one is willing to accept gold as a form of payment... then the gold will eventually become worthless no matter how hyped up all the miners are.

Crypto currencies are a high risk investment(that means the payoff may be big or there may be massive investments lost, no one knows).

ETH is at like $200 for one coin at the moment. Some miners are reporting ROI in 2 months, which is insane.. it was speculative, now miners are going in headfirst because of this price spike.

I can appreciate what they're after and the potential profits of it, but it's still speculative and can pop harder and faster than the US housing market in 2008. Or it could continue to grow for the forseeable future.

 

The idea that keeps popping into my head with the crypto mining craze is a thought from the california/alaska gold rush.

 

It's the guy selling the shovels that is making a killing, the miners... some may and some may not.

Well... If you really want to buy the cards that the crypto miners have, then the best thing that can happen for you is for the major mining currencies to flop hard. Then many miners will abandon it, attempt to recoup some money by selling their GPU's and systems which will flood the market with used GPU's and drive the prices for said items way down.

 

It's like buying a 2-3 year old card, still mostly new, the previous owner took the biggest depreciation hit and now you get a newish product at a discounted price.
