Help with wifi/ethernet connection!

So, i am using a power-line networking kit that works perfectly fine.  but i only get the speeds of myt 2.4ghz network rather than my 5ghz network.  my 5g has 60Mbps while my 2.4 has only 30.  Please help! I know my kit is not malfunctioning as i am reading 100Mbps connection from my router, which is the same speed as my 10/100 ports on the power line networking kit

I'm not quite understanding what you are asking... you are comparing two different things. 2.4/5ghz refers to the wave frequency of the wifi waves. Power line Ethernet does not use wifi. Also, keep in mind that the speeds you are describing are theoretical. Actual speeds will be lower.

I understand that i am talking about the wifi waves and that is why i am confused.  when looking at my adapter settings it says my ethernet is connected to my 2.4 wifi

Then wifi speeds have nothing to do with your connection. wifi is your wireless connectivity, eithernet has its own speeds. Powerlines are also not perfect and can bottleneck your speeds depending on your electrical network and other factors.

Does it support 5GHz? If it doesn't then that's all you're going to get out of it.

 

Do you want to use ethernet? Then you should be able to select that connection from your network widget on the start bar.

Like i said, i have it disabled so i am for sure using the ethernet

Are you sure "wifi 2.4ghz" isn't just the name of the connection?

Why would it be named wifi?  shouldn't it be named something like "***** ethernet"?

That line says the name the router gives to the connection. It's just a name, it could be pluto or anything else.
