even then a 1060 is still going to consume way more power than is practical for a laptop.

And idk what happened in the initial search but I tried it again and the correct model showed up.

then you really shouldn't be recommending things if you can't google a common laptop that has 1060 in every single one of it's page on the first page of google.

That AERO 15 looked really sweet. Thanks for the recommendation!

1060 won't be bad at all after an undervolt and fresh install, the aero 15 sports an amazing battery.

Thats what you people have to go through?

Thats unacceptable.

You can take a Mac out of the box and be up and running at full, and I mean full, capacity in 10min, not even that. No messing with the OS, no reinstalling, no nothing.

Why would you buy a product you have to wipe and restore. Its supporting bad business practices.

I belive the Radeon Pro 460 does fall within "half the graphical and pure processing power" of the Aero 15.

Price point is not really the issue here since OP can spend 3,500 Euro.

Gaming laptops are meant for gamers, its kinda in the name. I personally don't consider gamers as power users.

And yet it's not required to do. An average user would just pull a Windows laptop out of the box, set it up (with admittedly the creepiest installer of all time) and use it.

A power user has the option to take the machine out of the box, get their Windows USB/DVD, and install the operating system of their choosing, then install Afterburner or their favorite GPU tweaking utility and undervolt their GPU to get better thermal performance.

Not that I'd expect good thermal performance from a company that didn't think that their $2500 laptop needed cooling vents on the bottom until 2012..

idk

I'd would like to point out that the undervolt would be for the CPU and not the GPU. No current custom bios supports GPU undervolting cause nVidia has that option LOCKED the fuck out.

Wait, so you mean you need to repaste the Macbook Pro 2016 AND undervolt it to get it running at it's rated spec? Like how the 6920HQ can run at 4.0ghz with it's turbo bins unlocked by runs at 3.1ghz on a Macbook Pro? Wait you mean you can't raise the turbo bins on the Mac side and REQUIRE Windows to do it? Wait you also can't undervolt on Mac and REQUIRES Windows to do so? And you need to run a script so that it sticks on the Mac side? Shit.

You also mean that the 460 in the highest end Macbook Pro is 60% slower than a 1060? That the 1060 is almost 140% FASTER than the 460.

Well in your humble opinion what kind of laptop should a "power user" buy. Please enlighten us with your informed opinion on Windows laptop. This is an actual question and I would like to know what you think.

Less than half of the performance with a 1k premium and a niche operating system. People usually don't spend a THOUSAND extra dollars for less performance when both of the machines have good battery life, good screens, and good looks.

remember you trade off for good specs is worse battery life.

The MacBook is going to be the thinnest and lightest machine out there and don't underestimate that dual core i5 or optional i7.

Actually looking at your price range of under 3,500 euro you could get this

https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MLH42LL/A&step=config#

you could even max it out and still be in budget.

Really the MacBook Pro is the most versatile computer for IT seeing as it can run both MacOS and Windows natively

He clearly wants a Windows machine because Windows machines offer better specs.  If he wanted a Macbook, he would have said he was looking into it. He literally said he wanted something with better specs and that is why he did not want to get a Macbook.  I'm starting to think you work for Apple..

A dual core i5 and dual core i7 aren't good for what he does.  A 7700HQ will destroy both of those options.  Dual cores meant for nothing more than updating your Facebook status or checking your email.

The thing about the MacBook Pro and Windows is that, on paper, it sounds amazing, but in practice, it's awful.  It gets bad battery life because it has to use the discrete GPU and it gets hotter because of the background processes.

Also, the Aero 15 does not have a 1080.  rekktt.PNG.e954d41eeffda51b4c081933bf06747f.PNGIf you cannot use Google effectively, then I do not think you should be recommending products at all.

This makes no sense.

No modifications need to be made to the MacBook Pro to get it to run at its rated speeds. Period.

I already explained what happened. Please read and stop being a jerk on the Forum.

From what I gathered, you typed in Aero 15 and laptops with 1080s popped up.  How?

The only difference in what we both did is I used Chrome, and you used Safari.
