Are CHIEFTEC power supplies any good?

some folks say to me that no dont buy chieftec psu it will explode and so on. the in buy in navitas model 1000w 80+ gold. and is running my crossire r9 fury oc 100mhz on core and ryzen 7 1700 oc to 3.8ghz like a champ. if you google a bit more you will se that some chieftec psu are made by company as delta, cwt, the sam compay that make corsair psu-s.

Naa, Chieftec isn't that bad.

The point is that everyone else makes a better job than chieftec and isn't more expensive either.

The Power Smart series for example is somewhat OKish, but nothing special. And based on CWT GPS series (like this: http://i2hard.ru/reviews/obzor-i-testirovanie-bloka-pitaniya-thermaltake-smart-dps-g-650w.html)

Fan on the 750W model quite annoying and the standard CWT components without AVL isn't great either.

But its not a bad PSU, just that everyone else at the price is better....

In the olden days Chietec was quite good but doesn't seem to have a guy that knows about PSU and so they just sell standard stuff from the manufacturer with maybe a custom case (color) but not much else.

PS: Right now most Chieftec units are made by CWT.

Delta was some time ago like the DPS-400AA-101.

And I think Sirfa for some other stuff like the Proton and some lower end stuff.

The Proton seems somewhat usable, but they totally messed up the fan controller wich ruins the PSU...

But thats the normal thing to do for Companys these days, to ruin a really good unit with a shitty fan or fan contoller.

chieftec was like 70€ cheaper then a crosair one. Made by the same company (CWT) so i buy a chieftec and for now im happy

This is a terrible way to pick PSUs. GTX1070 and GTX1030 are made by the same company too. Which model did you buy?
