Ryzen Build

Hey I seem to like the AMD's moderately new Ryzen CPU's... I have decided to do my second build and they have got my eyes shining with their impeccable performance and amazing prices... 

 

Is there anything that I should look out for before building the PC?

 

Also how does it handle overclocking?

 

GPU's and Ram recommendations will be appreciated..

we need a lot more information if you're looking for build information...

 

what is your budget?

what is your use case? (what workloads will you be doing with this computer)

any aesthetic or form factor you're looking for?

 

as for things you should look out for... not really. just do your research. overclocking is kinda meh, but its much cheaper to do than on intel platforms. You should get faster RAM as that assists Ryzen CPU's performance scaling more than normal. can't make specific GPU or RAM recommendations without knowing a lot more about what you want.

In my opinion, if you are going with Ryzen 7, go with the 1700 (non-x) or, if you are going with Ryzen 5, go with the 1600 (non-x).

 

As for what concerns RAM, be sure to check the board's manufacturer compatibility list and you should be able to reach the desired speed.

 

GPU-wise, it really depends on your budget. For budget, I would go with either the 1050ti or the 570 (the 570 is slightly better), midrange I would choose the 580 over the 1060, but they are fairly equal (get the 8GB/6GB versions). Higher than that, your only current options are NVIDIA cards (1070/1080), or to wait for AMD Vega.

 

I am not sure about overclocking as I do not overclock . But from what I read, Ryzen usually reaches 3.9-4.1GHz.

Ryzen m-ITX boards will be out soon if not now. There was an announcement over the weekend. You can build a tiny 65W TDP passively cooled 8-core CPU. 2017 is a good time to be building!

Please consider building a m-ITX ryzen 1700 inside a streacom db4 and then come back to the forum with some hardware porn.

My budget would be around $2000...

And my use case is mainly gaming, editing, animating, coding and basic web browsing.

You can and should tweak around some items as prices may differ in your country. Also some stuff is a bit overkill (e.g. PSU), but I added it as your budget is quite big.

 

I assumed you already have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

comes in a black and red aesthetic. can be changed if you don't like that (you didn't specify). mass storage is empty, but there is enough money left over to add in however much you wanted, or at the very least enough to get you started. didn't include peripherals since, again, you didn't specify but build and price can be adjusted to fit your need if you also want those included.
