Your better off getting a compact pc, a laptop costs to much, and YOU can't upgrade gpucpu (get the laptop of your not a gamer).

You really aren't helping. A laptop is the most convenient for me. I can use it on trains and it does not need to be plugged in all the time. If you aren't going to answer my question, don't bother replying.

No, that's DDR4

You need DDR3 SODIMMS. I'd wait until you have your laptop before ordering the RAM. See what's in there already.

If it's a single 8Gb stick, get another with the same specs. If it's 2x4Gb, just replace it with a 2x8Gb DDR3 kit.

If he is getting that laptop what is the point in saying a desktop is more upgradable.

Does you mum know you're here?

dont get the AW13 R2 maybe? That's probably one of the worse laptops. There are ALOT better laptops than that thing. Tell me your budget and location.

The reason why the AW13 R2 is trash is because it's huge and fat and heavy AND ONLY has a duo core. Which makes it pretty much garbage.

(Retired) Zbook 15: i7-6820HQ, M2000M, 32gb, 512gb SSD + 2tb HDD, 4k Dreamcolor

Then you'll be getting DDR4.  My (new) AW13R3 with the 7700HQ has a 1x8GB stick of DDR4-2400.  So I'll just need to buy another stick to get to 16GB.

If yours has the 6300HQ (probably does I presume) then it'll be DDR4-2133.

Alright, thanks! When and if i feel i need I will get that RAM but obviously i'll check what speed the current stick is before i buy a new one.

Honestly, you could get DDR4-2400 either way and just let the BIOS run it at 2133 if you have the Skylake processor (I would assume, anyway)

no? they run up to 2667mhz...for both Skylake and Kaby Lake. And because they don't have XMP, even low latency sets like Kingstons CL14 2400mhz run worse. I think the best ones are the Kingston low latency 2667mhz (when they work), and the GSkill 3200mhz running at CL18 2667mhz.

I meant that the 2400 MHz stick will clock down to match the 2133 MHz stick that's already installed on the Skylake

Yes. Which is good and bad. There are incidences where these machines refuse to runner higher mhz and stick to the min and force you to run with it's stock stick which is fucking hilarious.
