Google refuses to hand over employee income records. Explaining that it would cost too much and require too much time. Raising suspicions about a disparity in men and women's pay.

(1) No employer having employees subject to any provisions of this section shall discriminate, within any establishment in which such employees are employed, between employees on the basis of sex by paying wages to employees in such establishment at a rate less than the rate at which he pays wages to employees of the opposite sex in such establishment for equal work on jobs the performance of which requires equal skill, effort, and responsibility, and which are performed under similar working conditions, except where such payment is made pursuant to (i) a seniority system; (ii) a merit system; (iii) a system which measures earnings by quantity or quality of production; or (iv) a differential based on any other factor other than sex: Provided, That an employer who is paying a wage rate differential in violation of this subsection shall not, in order to comply with the provisions of this subsection, reduce the wage rate of any employee.

(2) No labor organization, or its agents, representing employees of an employer having employees subject to any provisions of this section shall cause or attempt to cause such an employer to discriminate against an employee in violation of paragraph (1) of this subsection.

(3) For purposes of administration and enforcement, any amounts owing to any employee which have been withheld in violation of this subsection shall be deemed to be unpaid minimum wages or unpaid overtime compensation under this chapter.

(4) As used in this subsection, the term “labor organization” means any organization of any kind, or any agency or employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and which exists for the purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages, rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work.

Lol the wage gap again. Just come up with a single company that could get away with paying women less than men and still hire men. This is not how business works...

You do realize MIT did a great in depth research project on the wage gap and found it to be utter non sense. The numbers most people quote are not true and only used as buzz words for attention.

Where I live I can confirm there's a wage gap in certain job areas... For example at my last job being a technical support engineer ALL the female engineers got paid the bare minimum and they had the same qualifications as me and did all the same work I did but all the male engineers got paid almost double what their female counter parts did.

If that where so, then why hire more then one or two guys, let alone any of them? From a buisness standpoint, if I can pay one person less then the other, I'll higher the person that will accept the lower wage because it saves me money.

Because it's an economy-wide phenomenon. In order to have a negative competitive effect, it needs to be an individual deviation from equilibrium practices. If everyone else does it, it won't hold you back against them (it will instead hold the economy back as a whole). Moreover, even individual deviations will only be completely out-competed in the presence of perfect competition. A more realistic setup would mean lower profits, but not instant demise.

Also, part of the common wage gap can be accounted by "statistical discrimination", which does not lead to a competitive disadvantage on average.

Because it's an economy-wide phenomenon. In order to have a negative competitive effect, it needs to be an individual deviation from equilibrium practices. If everyone else does it, it won't hold you back against them (it will instead hold the economy back as a whole). Moreover, even individual deviations will only be completely out-competed in the presence of perfect competition. A more realistic setup would mean lower profits, but not instant demise.

Also, part of the common wage gap can be accounted by "statistical discrimination", which does not lead to a competitive disadvantage on average.

Lack of evidence + no real reason to act this way = no argument in my books. And when the evidence is anecdotal then it does not count as evidence either. Just because a tall guy was a dick to me doesn't mean all tall guys are dicks.

 

Uhhmm simply put if he is not smart enough to understand simple business practices then I doubt he can run a company without it crashing and failing. It has nothing to do with competition or anything. Just that being at baby-squirell-hit-on-the-head-at-birth levels of stupidity probably means you can't run a company.
