75hz Not Working on Ultrawide Monitor

Make sure in the game you are playing that the resolution the game is set at isn't 60hz, for example in diablo 3 the resolution is 1920x1080x60 ... you gotta change it too 1920x1080x75 from the drop down. Also some games also have a setting to have the max framerate cap at 60 and you can change it to w/e you want.

Like I said before make sure freesync is turned on on the monitor itself.

And it's set to 75hz under advanced settings in windows itself or it won't show up in games.

It worked for me but seeing I have 1 nvidea using PC I can't check if it always works.

It must be because of its HDMI only input, which sucks, those with Display Port can get to these high frequencies just fine using nVidia custom resolution once you use DP, my 29UM68-P for instance also was locked to 60hz on HDMI, changed it to DP and voila 80hz stable:

From what I've read in the past, you really do need to use FreeSync to get the 75 Hz, custom resolutions won't work. No idea why, but that's how it is. So I hear, anyway.

I figured it out, disabling Freesync allowed games to show 75hz as an option

I just bought an LG 34UM61, a 2560x1080p ultrawide. The display advertises a refresh rate of 75hz. Upon further reading I discovered that to achieve 75hz you must use freesync. Having an Nvidia card I decided to just go into the control panel and overclock the display because obviously it can achieve 75hz. So the test passed and in the Nvidia control panel it says 75hz, however whenever I go into a game and turn on v-sync to check the refresh rate, it caps at 60fps, which means it is running at 60hz, how do I fix this?

First of all, are you using Display Port or HDMI? This monitor can only reach its 75hz refresh through Display Port not through HDMI.

Use dp cable to connect is to the PC.

Then in the monitors menu turn on freesync.

In windows right click desktop go to your display settings not nvidea control panel.

Hit up advanced and set refresh rate to 75hz.

That at least worked for me.

V-sync should cap the FPS to the monitor's refresh rate, when I do it, it caps at 60fps, which means 60hz, and games show only 60hz as an option for refresh rate,

It's probably the Freesync that lets it hit those frame-rates. There isn't much that can be done unless you buy a red card.

Unfortunately to get the 75hz you NEED to use freesync. Friend of mine was in the exact some position. To use freesync you need to make sure you are using a HDMI 1.2 or above cable. OR use the display port option, but as your monitor doesn't support display port.. Make sure the HDMI cable is 1.2 or higher.
