Microsoft PowerPoint has generated errors

Go to solution Solved by RMcKee656,
Start this application, use the open file softkey and prepare to start repairing by using the Next button.

When I attempt to open an .ppt extension presentation I get the following error - POWERPOINT.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. Can anyone advise what could have caused this and how to repair PowerPoint?

I'm running MS Office 2013 on Win 8.

Any help would be appreciated.

The information you have given / obtained is too vague. Damaged file? Either way PowerPoint should not crash, but damaged files could promote some obscure bugs. Does the file work on another computer? Is the computer otherwise stable?

Contact Microsoft about it, if the computer is stable and you have ruled out hardware issues - especially if you can reproduce it on other instances of MS PowerPoint. Otherwise, I guess there is little to do.
