More like trying to "steal" the marketing dollars Intel already throws into i3/5/7 and motherboard chipset.

Fatal1ty is the name of a Pro player the series is a product line with his name. I don't know much about him but you need to ask him why 1 is in it.

AMD can really piss intel off by making their cpu with the same number of contacts and then just use Intel sockets. xD

I'm interested in X299 and what Intel has in store for their 6 & 8 core variants. I want to step up to at least 6 cores and get my physics score up in benchmarking. I plan to do some video editing and rendering, but mostly game.

Computex should be quite fun. :)

Shh.

It works better if everyone's just quiet about it.

Aye, it also has the side effect of normalizing the level of stupidity across naming schemes.

Great, because nobody is going to think that X399 comes after X299, right? This is going to be hell for consumer chipsets.

It's truly quite funny. B350? X399? To be honest, it's great marketing. Your typical consumer will see B350 and just think it is better than the B250 board or whatnot and so on. Plus... to pis Intel off :)

I don't think most people buy a CPU based on the motherboard.
