Next best on Amazon is NT-H1 for $5.90, but that's an add-on item.

If you're a student tight on money you might have better luck asking friends who have built PC's before to lend you some; some brands have very nice stock paste (Phanteks, Cryorig, Noctua) and bundle larger-than-required amounts with their coolers.

Honestly, if you cant even dough out 10$ for thermal paste then you have more important issues at hand than your cpu overheating.

I just bought Arctic MX-4 tube on Amazon for like $6.95 and that is supposed to be the second best on the market, after Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.

If that surpasses your $5 budget by too much, go look in your couch for some change that fell out of someones pocket.
